Our Trip to Kuching Sarawak (Part 1)!

As usual, we booked our flight ticket a few months before during the Air Asia promotion. The ticket we purchased cost us about RM 25 per person and it was a return-flight ticket..We start our journey on the 16th of January 2011 (Sunday). Our flight was schedule to leave for Kuching at 7.15 am. Mr. MoKA drove us to the LCCT Airport at 4.30am in the morning...Thank u for that..i know weekend is your exciting day of sleep..hehe..We arrived at Kuching International Airport at almost 9.30am and Kuching was an hour earlier than Kuala Lumpur..After arriving at Kuching International Airport, we went to see our pick-up agent Puan Norma..We rented a car (New Model of Proton Saga) which cost us about RM340 per car for our 3D2N trip in Kuching..it is worth i think! :) you may also visit their website for more information (http://kuchingcarrental.com/)..

Kuching International Airport

Before check-in to the hotel (Harbour View Hotel), we heading straight to Pasar Satok without knowing the direction to go there..Luckily we manage to collect all of Kuching map at the airport..after almost an hour of driving then we arrived at Pasar Satok..We were told that if you happen to be in Kuching during the weekends, you must visit the Pasar Satok or Satok Market..This is a market where villagers from around the region would bring their agricultural of fruits, vegetables, fish, sweet desert to the city to sell them..The hawkers will start selling their goods at 5 am in the morning at every Saturday and Sunday..As we arrived late at Pasar Satok and it will be closing at 12pm, we have listed all the items to be purchased such as Layered Cake (Kuih Lapis) cost at RM 10 per cake-buy 10 free 1, Non-dried salted fish (ikan terubok masin) cost at RM 22.50 per fish and 'ole-ole' to the beloved ones..:)..Kuching is definitely famous for 'Kek Lapis'..If you were there, you should budget about more than half a day to explore this huge weekend market..

As this was our first trip to Kuching, we didnt know the nice place to eat..but we knew that once we arrived to Kuching, the food that we must try is Kolok Mee and Sarawak Laksa..After searching and searching, we found one Singaporean Chicken Rice Shop near Pasar Satok area..we had our lunch there..

We reached at the Harbour View Hotel around 2.30pm and the check-in time was schedule at 3pm..We booked our hotel through online a month before..and cost us around RM400 (Family Room) for 3D2N stay excluding breakfast :) The Harbour view hotel is just great. The location could not be better, you really need to book a room with a river view, it is amazing. It takes around 25 minutes to drive from the Kuching International Airport to the hotel. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. It is the best value you could ever get. I would recommend this hotel to everyone I like :)

After a short nap, around 5pm we went for walking around the hotel where there is Chinese History Museum. It was built in 1912 used as a court by Chinese community until 1921. This museum was officially opened in 1993. Interesting place to visit because there's a lot of history information here about immigration of Chinese to Sarawak. The entrance fee for this museum is FREE.

At night, we went to take a walk at the Waterfront riverside n wanted to have our dinner there as we are not able to find a good place to eat..huhuh..we decided to have our dinner at the stall located near the waterfront area..and guess wut..the foods there so expensive..simple Fried rice at RM5 and Hot Tea at RM2.50 kot..dang!..and tak lah sedap sangat!don't ever go there to have your dinner..but it was a nice place to take pictures..
