Our Trip to Kuching Sarawak (Part 1)!

As usual, we booked our flight ticket a few months before during the Air Asia promotion. The ticket we purchased cost us about RM 25 per person and it was a return-flight ticket..We start our journey on the 16th of January 2011 (Sunday). Our flight was schedule to leave for Kuching at 7.15 am. Mr. MoKA drove us to the LCCT Airport at 4.30am in the morning...Thank u for that..i know weekend is your exciting day of sleep..hehe..We arrived at Kuching International Airport at almost 9.30am and Kuching was an hour earlier than Kuala Lumpur..After arriving at Kuching International Airport, we went to see our pick-up agent Puan Norma..We rented a car (New Model of Proton Saga) which cost us about RM340 per car for our 3D2N trip in Kuching..it is worth i think! :) you may also visit their website for more information (http://kuchingcarrental.com/)..

Kuching International Airport

Before check-in to the hotel (Harbour View Hotel), we heading straight to Pasar Satok without knowing the direction to go there..Luckily we manage to collect all of Kuching map at the airport..after almost an hour of driving then we arrived at Pasar Satok..We were told that if you happen to be in Kuching during the weekends, you must visit the Pasar Satok or Satok Market..This is a market where villagers from around the region would bring their agricultural of fruits, vegetables, fish, sweet desert to the city to sell them..The hawkers will start selling their goods at 5 am in the morning at every Saturday and Sunday..As we arrived late at Pasar Satok and it will be closing at 12pm, we have listed all the items to be purchased such as Layered Cake (Kuih Lapis) cost at RM 10 per cake-buy 10 free 1, Non-dried salted fish (ikan terubok masin) cost at RM 22.50 per fish and 'ole-ole' to the beloved ones..:)..Kuching is definitely famous for 'Kek Lapis'..If you were there, you should budget about more than half a day to explore this huge weekend market..

at Pasar Satok

As this was our first trip to Kuching, we didnt know the nice place to eat..but we knew that once we arrived to Kuching, the food that we must try is Kolok Mee and Sarawak Laksa..After searching and searching, we found one Singaporean Chicken Rice Shop near Pasar Satok area..we had our lunch there..

We reached at the Harbour View Hotel around 2.30pm and the check-in time was schedule at 3pm..We booked our hotel through online a month before..and cost us around RM400 (Family Room) for 3D2N stay excluding breakfast :) The Harbour view hotel is just great. The location could not be better, you really need to book a room with a river view, it is amazing. It takes around 25 minutes to drive from the Kuching International Airport to the hotel. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. It is the best value you could ever get. I would recommend this hotel to everyone I like :)

After a short nap, around 5pm we went for walking around the hotel where there is Chinese History Museum. It was built in 1912 used as a court by Chinese community until 1921. This museum was officially opened in 1993. Interesting place to visit because there's a lot of history information here about immigration of Chinese to Sarawak. The entrance fee for this museum is FREE.

Trip to Pangkor Island

DAY 1

Pangkor Island, is one of the few remaining unspoilt island in Peninsular Malaysia just a 30 minutes ride on the large ferry...One way to absorb the local culture is to experience first hand some of its attractions. The trip were involved with two families..The Suhaimi's family and The Rosli's family..:) we were planning our trip to Pangkor a few months before..Before heading to Lumut Jetty, we stop by to have our superb Rojak  in Setiawan..located few minutes before the Lumut Jetty..and it is near to my uncle house..i recommend u to try this rojak..sangat2 sedap ok!

Once we arrive at Lumut jetty (it took 1 hour drive from Ipoh to Lumut), we parked our car at the Multi Storey Covered Car Park at Lumut..Personally, this car park is quite safe if compared to others outdoor car park as I could see there are guards at every level..The parking fee is RM10 for 24 hours...Nowadays the old boat no longer in service & now using high speedboat to travel. It took 20-25 minutes to reach our destination. Seems we all so excited, can't wait to make our feet touch on the sandy beach...:)

Upon arrive on Pangkor Island we were fully gear up!..Then, we hopped on to a mini bus which drives us straight to the resort..(Coral Bay Resort)..we booked a penthouse with 3 bedrooms for our 3D2N stays...cost at RM400 per night..we prefer sitting in a room together..easy to chit-chatting..:) After a few hours sitting in a room, then we decided to walk on the beach and thinking of doing something crazy..and guess wut??Yes, the Banana boat that i'm talking about...Is cool when everyone sitting on the top which ride in the top speed & turn a sharp corner just a split second. Splash!!! Everyone fall into sea. Woo~ Hoo~ that was fun..end of Day 1....

DAY 2

Day 3 (Last Day)

As usual..start the day with some breakfast at one of the Gerai just in front of the resort...then we went for a morning walk at the beach..taking pictures as always..:)..moms gossiping..and the children listening to the gossip..heheh..and enjoy the moment before heading back..
